But politics can also be a subject that gets heated...so we do not want that....opinions are great and welcome...but not name calling.

Thanks for the new thread

My support is for Obama.

I was going for mccain at first when romney dropped out, but once he picked palin for vp, then he went totally backwards on keeping the campaign "clean" i for once dont fall for those dirty adds, as effective as they may be.

Then the whole fiasco with the first bailout bill, where he tried to stick his name on it at the last minute and then it blew up in his face, i mean i kinda feel sorry for him its just been blunder after blunder for him.

On the democrat side, well they just seem to have their act together, even though theyre still doing their dirty adds, theyre not as messed up as mccains and theyre proving their side that mccain is just a continuation of bush and i certaintly dont want that.

For obama things havent been as bad, but i still wish more out of him, i mean dont we deserve better picks than an old man and a new guy?

I'm goin with Obama. There would have been a time when I would have cosen McCain but his handling of the economic problem as well as his choosing Palin was a turn off. Plus I don't think McCain is being 100% himself. I think the direction he wants to go and the direction his party wants to go are two different things. The whole mudslinging campaign is clearly not how he wants things but again I don't think it was his idea. I also feel that with the was warfare has changed from the past his experience won't be applicable unless we return to country vs country sluggin it out.

I could use Obama's tax breaks for the middle class. I also like his ideas on foreign policy and how he elects to keep things clean. Lastly I think his experience as a community organizer is what the country needs. After all aren't we all one big community?

I do not support ethier of them but if I had to chose it would be Obama becase McCain is kind of like Bush and I think Bush is somewhat responsible for the encomy proplem.Plus I am not that trilled with his vice President.I here all this talk about how Obama is going to get assanitated if he get's elected I think that's kind Bogess!McCain is old if he has a heart attack then we would be stuck with his Vice President what I think kind of suck's.We should have securrity for Obama since everone I talk to say's how he is going to get killed.I do not think or security would be so incompited of protecting the President!A heart attack on the other hand you can't really avoid!I hope nethier of those thing's happen but you can't be sure they won't!

The health concern with McCain is that he's not a young guy and has had a few episodes of skin cancer. That being said, Obama was a smoker for many years so who knows how good his actual health is.

Personally, I just feel Palin is not qualified. Based on her response to the "Troopergate" issue, her kill them stance on foreign policy and the fact that her daughter is having a child, she was a huge mistake on the part of the Republican campaign. There were plenty of more qualified women to choose. I think it's another example of how McCain was robbed of the campaign that he really wanted to run.

Damn I’m scared of what’s going to happen if Obama wins. It’s going to destabilize the situation in Eastern Europe for sure. Might even cause the doom of Ukraine and other countries that where once a part of the Russian fitly communistic empire. The situation during those times where worse then anyone one of you could possibly imagine. Without someone who can keep the Russians at bay like a strong leader and without the anti-missile shield system in Poland. I’m sure there will be another conflict like in Georgia sometime soon. And without any alternative ways of acquiring resources such as gas and oil we will soon become addicted to Russia that is until those brainless halfwits will finally concentrate on producing more cars running on electricity and power plants so that we won’t need gas anymore not their oil!

Anyway it will destabilize the world’s economy too. So be sure everything’s going to get even more messed up then it is now. Time to invest in some Euro’s for the future! And buy myself some kevlar.

I'm not so sure.... With Obama as a president it would open up communication line so countries won't always feel like they have to just to militaristic options. They would at least feel like they can come to the US and say their peice so we're all on the same page. GW didn't appear weak to anyone and yet the Russian still did what they did. Sure not everyone can be negotiated with, but it helps your standing with your allies if you try diplomatic means first.

I Agree that we need the anti missile system. I also believe we need to maintain our defense spending if not increase it. And I think McCain's government spending freeze would hurt that. A strong military is far more of a deterant than a so called strong leader cuz no matter who leads the country a bomb sounds the same. PS don't skimp on the Raptor orders. lol

Lastly I honestly feel our econmy would benifit best under Obama cuz neither I nor anyone I know, nor anyone who I know knows makes more that $250,000. Hell I I made that, the economic situation wouldn't matter. But that means we get a tax cut which frees us up to spend more money in retail. When investers hear the middle class is buying again, stocks will start to recover.

I don’t think you understand. Russia is like a sarcastic wild animal. Kinda racist. I’ve seen them treat people with darker skin color like air or a lower species. They don’t even like Asians like Chinese since their vision of communism was always completely different.

And if for example Miedwiediew or Putin officially stated on TV that they can produce apples and oranges in factories most of the common brainwashed folk would believe in this crap.

So I doubt they will treat Obama seriously or will think that he will be un-interested in Europe thus won’t punish them with any sanctions or some such things. And since they will see him that way they might attack other countries. And seeing how they spend more and more money on their military lately I don’t think they will use it just to make a one big parade. So far the most effective way to deal with them where threats. Russia is afraid to have it’s economy crippled even more then it already is. That’s why they attacked Georgia and might attack Ukraine soon because of it’s natural resources. And after that… who knows? Norway? Poland? Finland? Sweden? Where there’s wealth you can be sure Russian soldiers will loot and plunder. If no one reacts in time history will repeat itself again. Remember the league of nations? That couldn’t stop WW II and now this. The UN not stopping the events that took place in Georgia. If McCain is indeed a veteran the Russians would surely be more submissive and careful. Because I’m sure he would support the anti-missile shield project as for Obama… I don’t think so. He seems to be more of a pacifist from my point of view.

Yeah, I see where you're coming from. I still think though, that if they wanted to do something, they'll do it regardless because these are trying times for them not necessarily because of Obama. And if they do try something they'll learn quick enough. At the beginning of the primary season, they were taking cracks at his wife. Obama simply said once and only once, that anyone who wished to do that had better watch out. The issue never came up again, to this day. With balls like that I feel we'll be fine. I also feel that he can repair and erase the bitter feelings with our allies, and encourage them to do more to help us out. Countries had issues with our building missile defenses there. With a leader like Obama they may feel less hesitant and more assured we're looking after more than just American interests.

Ooh, politics! Awwe, must behave... fine, I'll be short (a rarity for me).

I don't know how I feel about Obama - when everything started, the first thing I noted about him was his response to the question, "would you talk with opposition leaders without first requiring terms" - he gave an unqualified yes, and that kinda matched my own gut-check reaction. I liked that, even if some called it naive; it came across as 'honest' to me.

McCain I just simply cannot trust - he has been overwhelmingly negative from day one, has 'reinvented' his campaign platform several times which kills any claims of consistency, and blatantly chose Palin to curry the female vote despite the fact that he had only ever even SEEN her twice before then - a 'qualified' candidate? How would you know?

As for the much-touted issue of foreign affairs, here's my perspective: McCain looks and sounds EXACTLY like the same old tired Washington crowd that other nations so distrust - the stereotypical American politician. Putting Obama in office would very visibly distance his administration from Bush's by age and race, giving him more of a blank slate to work with when trying to rebuild American credibility abroad. He would be in the double-edged position of establishing his own precedents, whereas McCain would be weighed down by the precedents of previous administrations. My thoughts on the matter.

On the VP side, I've got my reservations about Biden but I think he'd do a better job than Palin. And between them, I'd rather have Biden as president if the 'primary' candidate is somehow removed from office (McCain sickness/Obama pissing off the wrong people).

Push Button, Receive Bacon.

What do you mean by finish the job? If you mean finish as in kill every terrorist then you'll never win. More are being born and converted everyday. Us killing terrorist is like romans killing Christians in the fact that we can't kill them all or keep them from spreading their beliefs. Besides isn't our legal right to have troops over there drawing to a close anyway. I think this December it expires and they were having some issue or another drawing up another mandate cuz Iraqi leaders have sovereignty problems.

People who aren't working? Like those who were laid off because their jobs have been shipped off to china? Or those mothers who've been abandoned to raise one or more children alone? I wouldn't mind having tax money go to people like that. Even if it meant paying a little more in taxes. But to hear people complain about paying taxes for that and they have 3 houses to choose from and not worry where the next meal is going to come from? Sure some bums will try to mooch but many many americans struggle and claw to make something, not even for themselves but for their children because they figure it's too late for themselves. For those americans I would mind sparing anything I could afford to give. But if the economy suffers, not even I can offer anything. These tax breaks will help in the long run.

I have been unimpressed with the Bush administration for their handling of foreign affairs. i think that McCain will follow in Bush's footsteps and hurt this country even more. Obama ushers in a democratic president who will try to help change a nation in economic crisis. It won't be sudden or easy, but i think he's the man for the job.

McCain. I guess I feel Obama is just a walking fairy tail who uses one word over and over again. Then there is William Aires (spelling?) rev Wright, and his views on the whole oil situation, coal mines in Penn, Electicity sky rocketing, no putting hand over the heart during pledge, his lying about his religion, and the list goes on.

Phantom Renegad
11-28-2008, 03:10 PM
I don't see where you're coming from. I don't see Aires or Wright being offered any position in the government. Not even on the janitorial staff. And I don't see how he's lying about his religion. I find it hard to tell someone else what they do or don't believe. I could care less what he believes or his hand over his heart. Those things do not make America great. What makes this country great is hard working people doing their best. What makes America great is the fact that there are people who are willing to take a job no one wants, bear the weight of the world and not be afraid of failure so that they may lift America up to the icon it has been in the past.
