First off, Nyquil, Guitar Hero: World Tour will be released as a full band experience like Rock Band.
im going to go with rock band 2 because the setlist is so much better
How can you compare the two when Guitar Hero's setlist hasn't been released yet? I realize Rock Band 2 is boasting 500 songs either by game or download by sometime next year, which is impressive, but World Tour has the studio addition where you can create your own music and share it with friends. That's the bottom line for me.
I will be buying both though. The full package for GH, and just the disc for Rock Band 2. Both developers assure full compatibility with each others peripherals, and as of now, GH's drums are better. That's the truth. GH's wireless drums will have 6 velocity-sensitive inputs (3 drum pads, 2 cymbal pads, 1 pedal), Rock Band just re-vamped their 5 input drum kit to be quieter and sturdier than before, as well as being wireless and velocity-sensitive as well.
Rock Band is releasing a drum kit much like Guitar Hero's, with cymbal pads and what not, but guess what? It's not included with the game, and it retails for THREE HUNDRED DOLLARS.
I owned both Guitar Hero III and Rock Band and I plan on owning both Guitar Hero: World Tour and RB2. I just plan on Guitar Hero being better.

I'm partial to both actually. I've had some great memories with Guitar Hero, but Rock Band really created that definative "Rockin' Out" experience for me.
I see both as being an awesome purchase, but first I've got to get me some free time to play videogames again...

Probably Guitar Hero, but just the disc, I don't feel like shelling out the money for either full game.
If the Guitar Hero World Tour set is compatible with RB2, then I'll get the whole GH set then teh RB2 disk.

guitar hero 4 is gonna be better than rock band 2 rockband 2 only gots like 20 good songs at the most in my opinion.
I think the only good thing that rock band 2 has is the licence to carry over old RB songs to the new one. But I don't see how that will work for me since I have a wii, and i think the licence only applies to PS3/360 because of online, even though the wii is getting online play and downloadables this time from both GH(not sure) and RB.

They are both very different and similar games. I've played both, and enjoy both, but... In the end. Rock Band 2 wins by a landslide.
Rock Band is more comfortable and is an easier band experience. Guitar Hero, as normal, tries to make everything more difficult than it should be. And adding in the drums and mic, thats a serious problem.
Activiating star power or whatever you want to call it now in Guitar Hero for the drums and mic is annoying, and almost not even worth playing for that reason.
The songs are yes good, but I feel like, there are too short of amount that are worth playing over and over on Guitar Hero.
Yes, you can create your own songs, but most people wont even take the time or make the effort to try and learn how to use it. And even if you do, you can only record for at most 3 minutes, as well as no vocals. Rock Band 2 is also receiving an update soon enough to install a music creator of its own, and to exceed a 3 minute limit, as well as to add vocals.

I like GH: WT because of the better drum setup

I think the drum set up is a bit weird. Probably because I have been playing the Rock Band drums for a year.
But going from 4 pads on one height to 3 pads at one, and 2 at the top, its a bit odd to adjust.
What I want to tryout is the new rock band drums. The ones with the cymbals and such. Though, 300 bucks is a lot of money to throw down for a drum set, it would be nice to use it for real drumming, since it can be hooked up to a computer or stereo to be used as an electronic drum set.
Just, to be able to still have the 4 pads, adjust them to where I want them to be, and also have the 3 cymbals. Using that would definitely help me use my drum skills to its utmost potential.

I personally prefer rock band because, well, a sibling bought it and it's the only thing I have.

It has to be world tour because it just has more fan's + you can get extra songs for it and it has a drum kit with is tested my the drummer of the red hot chilli peepers. as well as a guitar with a solo slide on it but the only thing that might not be good is the mic all i know is that i'm defiantly geting guitar hero world tour when i get the cash.

The drum set was actually created by Travis Baker, from Blink 182.
Still... Everything World Tour has, Rock Band has, plus more.
The only thing is Guitar Hero is a bigger name... But Neversoft and Activison owns Guitar Hero now. And like most games they are putting out, it surely will go down the drain soon enough.
Hell, they both have downloadable songs. Rock Band has new downloadable songs every week. Guitar Hero... it's kinda random. But it does have the downloadable songs made by other games. Which is nice, buuuut, pretty hit or miss. It's hard to find a good song, only because its kinda limited, as well, only lasts for 3 minutes. Rock Band is even 1uping Guitar Hero, by releasing a downloadable feature to be able to create your own songs as well. As well, it exceeds 3 minutes, and the limitation of a certain amount of notes youre allowed in Guitar Hero.
As far as game play and graphics go, it really is Rock Band all the way...
But the real only question is what songs do you like. They have some doubles, and they both have an amazing amount of songs.
However, I got bored with World Tour very fast... I liked a few songs, but it wasn't anything compared to the 300+ songs they have on Rock Band.
