From what I have observed in the Anime Watch List thread, there are quite a few people who are either watching the series or have finished up to the latest episodes. I thought it would be a good idea to create a separate thread for discussing the anime.

What do most people think of the series in general? Or how do you like the characters?

Personally, I think the series is very interesting, but the plot seemed rushed sometimes, especially towards the ends of a certain incident. Most of the characters have good development, but some are the usual fodder characters, who serve nothing more than comic relief, or sometimes target practice.

My personal favorite character right now is Anya Alstreim, the Knight of Six. She is cute and mysterious, but a very skilled pilot nonetheless. Her clueless outlook on real life, along with her emotionless and bored tone of voice, is just too adorable. Not to mention, she is always writing in her photo diary.

What exactly is Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion about? I've been thinking about starting to watch but i wasn't sure if it was just a gundam wing clone or not. Anyways let me know Flarey, t'would be much appreciated :P

Explaning the story will take a long time but I will give you what I know about Lelouch power! Lelouch was given a power called Geass what allow's him to make almost any one follow his cammand's instanly but he can only use this power once on a person!Plus to use this power he need's Direct eye contact!The effect's of this power could last sometime it depend's on what he's order's were!This power was given to him by a Mysterious Woman known as C2 But her true name is unknown well at least I dont know it yet!Plus she has Immunity to his power! The Code Geass series is similar yet different from Gundam Wing.

While they both try to change the world, the characters in Gundam Wing do so for the sake of humanity, while Lelouch does so to avenge his mother and protect his sister.

This series has a lot of plot twists, and the whole story can be turned upside down in a matter of seconds. People change and die very quickly, and the powers become increasingly potent with time.

This guy henchmen number 24 or also known as hero fodder you never know his name or much about him. He is the true hero the always does what it takes to get the job done even if it means his death. Which it always does but that's beside the point. No story would complete with out this guy and his millions of brothers and sisters ready to take bullets be blown up crushed, run over drowned, electrified, stabbed and vaporized for the sake of the main heroes.

I Agree with you 100% on the rushed feeling of the second season but that's them trying to cram everything in to the 21 episode format.Over all it is a pretty good anime its not one that will stick out in the long list of mecha anime its no Macross and its no Gundam

I go back and forth with how i feel about lelouch, when he does something redeeming like two episodes later he does something else that makes me think he's a total ass. i got the season 1 part one dvd and it's really good. the director and cast commentary is really interesting.

They are rushing the plot to finish everything by the second season, which is also confirmed to be the last.

There are still so many open ends that needs to be tied up. What is going to happen to the rest of the Black Knights, and more importantly Kallen? What about the other members of the Imperial family? How is the world going to react to Lelouch as Emperor?

so i started watching today, and your right, its worth the time. I'm only three episodes in (and sadly have to suffer through the english dub) and so far its pretty crazy. definitly gets right to the point. And Lelouch is a tad insane, which is just awesome.

I didn't think the English dub was bad, but nunally's voice is a little to cutesy for it's own good.

See that's the thing,i'm not otaku in the way that is has to be sub or nothing,i actually appreciate the dub because personally i find subtitles infuriating.too much work..the text goes by so damn fast...

If possible, I almost always go with the Japanese version with English subtitles.

Generally, the Japanese voice actors put more effort into voicing the characters than the English counterparts, simply because they are the originals and the dubs are trying to match the lip movements. I can sense more emotions in the Japanese voices, and comparatively the English dubs sound more plain.

I'm not saying dubs are horrible, but I think that the original Japanese voices are better.

I don't know,i think the guy who's playing lelouch is doing a pretty good job.I think he nailed the scene where lulu thought nunally was dead after mao won the chess game.

Oh dear, I should have stopped reading! Now I know everyone dies :p but i suppose it isn't the outcome that's important in life, it's the events leading up to the end. Everyone who lives, dies right? So to simply live to find out the end... well it would lead to either mass murders or suicides... I completely went off topic again -_-
But yes, I must say it's subs for me... I used to watch dubs until my sattelite went down and i had to watch the rest of Blood + on youtube. now i can't stand the falsehoods in the english voices... some do it well, but there is always at least one who makes you cringe. Thanks again Bigman for the info on the fan sites. I really should have googled it a long time ago, silly me.

OK Flarey I watched Ep 22 last night and all it did was make me want him dead even more. Poor Kallen and Kaguya the jerk has broken both hearts and seems to not care at all .I pray that Nunnally. is alive and they are not playing some kind of cruel joke.

I find it hard to believe that Nunnally really considers Lelouch and Suzaku her enemies now.

She was always the beacon of hope, the personification of innocence. She did not even hate Mao, who tried to kill her. How could she make her own brother and her best friend the enemies?

I really hope she is being manipulated.

What I meant to say is I hope that the Nunnally they showed is the real her and not some fake. If that is the real her I don't dont think that she would want Suzaku or her bastard of a brother Lelouch as her enemy. Unless she is being manipulated which in that case I hope she is being controlled . Damn this anime for making me think about things

This anime has so many plot twists that it is hard to keep up with the goals of each character.

What is Lelouch trying to achieve after he takes over the world? What about Suzaku?

OK this is why I hate him he hurts everyone close to him and he does not seem to care. He acts like he is good but he is evil because of him a lot of the characters I liked have died.He is a betrayer I hate people that use and betray others.He is controlling Suzaku the friend he betrayed more then once. With out his power to fuck peoples minds up he is nothing. Last thing is he cant just treat Kallen like the way he does.

Speaking of Kallen, I wonder if she is going to face off against Suzaku again. The Lancelot against the Guren.

Or alternatively, Kallen might return to Lelouch's side again. The only two ninth-generation Knightmares under the command of an emperor wielding the Power of Kings, Geass.

Oh you know She is going to fight Suzaku that fight has been building up since well forever. About her going back to that jerk Bastard son of a bitch Lelouch that's just not going to happen he took her heart and pretty much crushed it.

You never know, with all the plot twists and all.

Besides, Suzaku and Kallen are both too important to the story to die, so one will not be able to kill the other in battle. Not to mention, Kallen can be swayed quite easily, from what we have seen in the past.

Oh I don't think kallen or Suzaku will die I just think they will have that epic battle between them . I just hope after its said and done they both work to stop jerk off. You are right though you never know with this anime with all the plot twist and all the mind screws they keep hitting you with.

I officially hate the black knights now, I just watched the new episode on adult swim's stream and their cocky attitudes really just irk me. especially rakshana god...she just..ugh. her voice is annoying and the smug look on her face makes you wish something horrible would happen to her just so you can go HA- HA!!. I'm really starting to like euphenia though. And suzaku is really starting to look like a stand up guy to me.

Poor Poor Cornelia another one of my favs may be gone . Wow Nunnally did a bad bad think she is not so pure now but she did it in the name of love you she gets a pass. Now what the heck is with Suzaku ?

The moral of this anime, if you are a likable character, you will be met with a quick end.

Really, they have killed off most of the nice characters, and the remaining ones have turned to evil means.

No kidding now if they kill off ohgi or what ever his name is I will be pissed. They kept Nunnally and she is like able but she just a bad thing . Now Suzaku he just went pure evil out of no where he was good now he is evil.

I really hope nothing happens to Kaguya. She already had her heart broken, and she has been through enough.

You know, I originally wanted Kallen to end up with Lelouch or Suzaku, but now that both of them are complete assholes, I have changed my mind.

Kallen has also shown interest in another person, one who has not broken her heart yet, and has actually accepted her decision to stand by her Japanese heritage.

Gino Weinberg.

The only important male character left in the entire series who is not a jackass. Gino is light-hearted, laid-back, and generally a nice guy. He does not care about status or nationality, immediately tried to relate to Kallen, and the two of them actually shared a heart-to-heart moment. In the most recent episode, Gino mentioned that he finally understood what Kallen was feeling.

Not to mention, Gino is one of the hottest male characters in the show. <3

Gino and Kallen are my currently most supported pairing. They are just adorable together, especially with her constantly annoyed at his carefree attitude.

The second and last pictures are my favorite. ^_^

During the hat snatching event, Gino was being chased by a lot of screaming girls, but we never saw whose hat he took. It would be so cute to see him try to take Kallen's hat.

I can definitely see Gino doing that in the last picture. Kiss on the cheek? Although Kallen will probably smack him instead.

Ok just got done watching ep 24 ,Freaking wow she opens her eyes the other semi god prince gets taken over but jerkoff Lelouch ,Suzaku is still acting like a ass face.It don't look to good for ogi ( really need to learn his name). Oh and Kallen is about to open a major can of whoopass on Suzaku and much much more and i love it Now i got to get back to waiting for the USA foods guy

Well its over now kind of feel like the last ep took a major shit on me but then I don't. You get closure in the last ep but its kind of away from the main story none the less damn good anime. I dont know if you guys are going through this but every good anime that I watch is coming to a end

As a whole series I give Geass a 2.5/5. First season was great but second season just a trainwreck. Damn you executive meddling and sudden stupidity syndrome. At least theres the Nightmare of Nunnally manga which to me is how Geass should've been.
