alright so here's a few drawings of concept art I have going for a novel... don't even laugh haha i know Khepesh looks bug eyed and big headed (well I dunno the face is just wrong somehow) but I can't do any better so screw me. And I made a mistake with his left pectoral (your right side).. makes it look like a gynormous smooshed breast. These are just rough sketches anyways, I can draw bodies fairly well at times, but i prefer sculpting to drawing so i don't practise enough.:01:

yeah i know, it's been ages since i've been here. between work, writing, and the dramas of everday life makes it a tad hard to find the time =/ but anywho.
Here's another piece I drew for my novel... turned out better than my drawings usually do, though the shading still bites the big one.
For anyone who doesn't know, this is a species classified as a cryptid, commonly dubbed as the 'Set Animal' or the 'Typhoneous animal.' It comes from ancient Egyptian mythology and is associated with the God Set (sometimes alternately spelled Sutekh)... since no one really knows what it would like like realistically I took artistic license and made it basically into a lion-sized canine, using a picture of a cougar for the inspiration of the body and adding the key characteristics from Egyptian art. lemme know what you think :01:

There's practicing, then there's creating your own style. In the end, it all comes down to knowing the basics of everything, then designing them into your own work. That way, there will be no criticisms. Look at Oda of One Piece or the xxxholic series. Both have exaggerated proportions of the bodies, but the art style works so well that no one cares.

And really, you're drawing because you like doing it, right?
