I play a fair number of games and have played a lot of games. I am pretty much starving for something that is fantastic in the world of gaming. One game I used to play until my fingers bled was planetside. It was/is the only game of it's kind, an mmofps. I have played games that have attempted it's level of awesomeness but have fallen very short. The game when released had an insane number of flaws, it didn't have the polish that most would expect from a well known company like sony. Despite that it did have it's perks, it was fun, at the time (2003) the graphics were pretty good and it was a true mmofps.

I have played fps games that have tried to make the claim that they are mmofps but it's always a joke. Perhaps there is something that most lack in the know-how department on making the code for the game or something. In a MMO-FPS the world should be persistent, meaning if you go away, it is still there and going on. In Planetside if I laid a mine down, I could log off, go to bed and hours later that mine might still be there if it didn't get ran over. If I went and capture a base, it may stay capture for the whole world to see for some time after I log off.

I am sure anyone on top of the fps scene has heard of huxley, I can't decide if it seems like a true mmofps or not, aside from that I haven't heard of anything on the front. Any hot titles coming out/came out that you know of?

Loved that game but so much was wrong with that game

1. SOE ruins game
2. patches would bring way more bugs then they fix
3. player base was lemmings aka zerging fools
4. BFRs aka big fucking robot
5. It taking more then one rocket or missile to kill someone
6. weapons were so unbalanced it was not funny
7. Gms sucked
8. SOE ruins games
9. the worst expansion pack ever to come out for a mmo should have just been a buggy patch
10.being able to kill a BFR aka BIG FUCKING ROBOT WITH A PISTOL
11. 3 shotgun blast wouldn't kill you but god don't be in front of a sniper
12. they came out with gun ships that could shut down a whole army
13. player base was zerging lemmings
14. the person who placed the bases around the map was a military tard he placed key bases right next to mountains were you could place your artillery and pound the base to crap .
15. Gun turrets kicked ass but most of them were placed behind trees so you couldn't see the enemy anyway
17. the caves .
18. the story line got really fuzzy
19. Gm ban Dan.
20. NC being Nerf then buffed then nerf then buff then nerf and so on and so on.
21.The fact that they never came out with planetside 2

But with all that wrong with Planetside I still love it

I actually loved the caves, it had plenty of design flaws and I HATED that one cave that was harder to get around then to defeat 3 against one of you. I did hate the buff nerf war that never seemed to end, but I know that the triple jack from my years almost always killed, it drove me nuts though that I could get two really solid hits from close enough to kiss you and they would still be standing. BFR's were pretty much a joke, I wouldn't let my outfit get them, 3 organized reavers would crush one and there wouldn't be much it could do. The turrents were good but they made little sense to me, so they shot at vehicles with pinpoint accuracy and axed out maxes that were running but they would never shoot at infantry, add that to the fact that when a man actually got into the turrent they were slightly worthless, often they seemed like a death trap to me.
They called it an expansion pack but there was no expansion. It was just the use of BFR's and the ability to go cave diving. Of all the things I liked about the cave, the one thing I disliked was the fact that running the mods wasn't a tremendous bonus to the person who did it. The incentive for doing it is alright but many were put off to a nearly fruitless excursion (at least in the eyes of most I spoke with concerning it). I play a game called battlefield 2142, if you could take most of that idea and turn that into an mmo that would be significantly better. If you still play it I can promise the best strategy you can use for outdoor combat is a organized group of reavers/mosquitos. That was always a blast. I hope hope hope someday planetside 2 comes to realization or another game very similar. : D
