View Full Version : What do board members think of Guests?

I see that some of us contribute to the board by posting hentai to share to our fellow board members, but I think its a little aggrevating to have so many guest that come to hentaispy.com more than 5 times a day, and not register to be a member.

Maybe its just me. I just dont understand. Registration is free on the board so why not join a great MessageBoard.

What do you (the reader of this thread) think about it?

Well I see it and feel a couple different ways.

The guests are important for traffic to help build the sites ratings....alot of the guests you see are also spiders that read the site data...

But it would be awesome to have the guests become active Members to really rock this place....unfortunately it is like alot of places...some folks just like to come and look.

Thanks

I was one of those guest i like the site and all but i felt in the end i just didn't have anything to really contribute to the site so i at lest came to read up on comic and such but now i had to become a member just to look. but thats ok i guess i don't mind posting

after my first visit which was like a week ago... I registered to become a member, and bookmarked this page, I really enjoy the new more original art that this site promises to produce. I have no problem joining this site... and it is amazingly free, which really turns me on to this site. Good job on a great website... and hope it still continues to overshoot my expectations.

i only joined after i found myself visiting this site everyday. I also wanted to help contribute, o sometimes it just akes a while for those guests to relize they want to be a part of the board *also maybe some of them aren't old enough eh?*

I am glad you are upfront about it, Doc Zox ;-) Also, you bring up a good point, onisnake, however someone can easily "fake" an age in order to get signed up :-\ as I am sure you know.

You are right there, but at least this way, its not as wrong as the kid has to lie about there age, as before it was almost like saying this content is ok for everyone...

What I'm trying to say is its not as wrong giving porn to a person that lies about their age then it is giving it to a kid straight out

... (got to get to 30 posts, don't worry I feel morally obliged to make the posts legitimate and not just random posts to add up to 30 lol)

I think forcing membership isn't a big deal, but requiring a certain number of posts won't really do much to promote more intelligent discussions.

This post for example, completely pointless and purely to raise my post counter.

What do i think about Guests?

As long as they don't stay too long. And their name doesn't end in, in-law. I'm :coolgleamA:

Hummm no one is forced to join this Forum, however being that it only grows and is fun with active people, sometimes small limitations is what it takes.

Plus if we want to get more and better upgrades, additions that are not Free for the owner, we want Members on the forum for participation.

Guests arn't that bad there just exploring the site and deciding if they want to join or not.

I'll agree a lot of people just join for the content but I feel they can get content elsewhere. I mean come on how hard is it to get porn? Anyway I joined for the great community and it's great to see that great community is still in tact today.

I lurked for a few days before joining. I have a habit of joining forums and forgetting about them after a day or two, so I waited a while.

When i first came to this site I was surprised how spam free it was and it doesnt seem to be fuckin up the comp or anything and it was FREE usually isnt so thats cool. Well like first post so I'm gonna find more things to relate to, to post bout.

Appreciate you addin' your two cents, Klown :-). I would like to add that it is relatively spam-free. Once you frequent here more often, it sometimes forwards you to an ad, but the frequency at which that occurs is minimal at most. That is one of the best things about this site, that you won't be barraged with fuckin' popups.

For some reason, today we experienced an enormous amount of guest visiting the board, breaking the previous record by almost 1000 counts.

It is nice to be frequented by visitors, but it would be even better if even one percent of those guests started to participate actively.

No shit?!? Almost by 1000?!? Damn, wonder what attributed to the surge...

I lurked here for sometime before signing up...some...time...I would come every now and again and check up on new dojins and look around at some of the forums. I felt like signing up but never really had a reason, since im the kinda person that, sadly is lazy and takes alot to get me moving but with the new implemented I thought what the heck might as well sign up. I have been around awhile but this is truely one of the best sites I have found thus far. So I would like to stay!

Your probably talking about the green embedded ads.....they will only take you somewhere if you click on them, I usually look for them and just navigate around it and it disappears.

I think guests are lazy people, who don't want to spend few minutes for register.

To be member is fine for me. but i skeptic about 30 posts policy, may this is a barrier for new member to participate?? anyway, it's up to webmaster.

I love this board anyway. You guys are rocks!! ;)

Flarey

The 30 post policy is to promote participation actually. Leechers who will never post anyway will be denied access, and active members will be rewarded.

I Feel 30 post is ok. Maybe just a little high but still I think it's a good idea. I think however that the post moderation idea is the best. To ensure those thirty posts aren't a load of BS... or rather not very much of anything, but BS none-the-less. I wish though that there were more people on the most moderation board so that responses are posted sooner. The delay kinda got to me. I feel however that guests are fine. And I feel they should be entitled to certain parts of the forums so that we draw in more members. And I'm a bit of a philanthropist.

Flarey

If you participate actively, then you should be able to reach 30 posts in a matter of days.

I have not been around that long myself, only a few months, but I have posted almost two thousand times. After a while, you lose interest in your post count.

What’s a post count? j/k

Anyway there are many lazy bastards in the world. Some just want to get what they want without pretty much no work at all. Others show little interest (like the ones here). They kinda remand me of the people that never write you back on a message or a mail.

davesmistress

The guests can see some aspects of the Forum...the Moderation is nessecary to keep the spammers out and to be sure unwanted content is not posted.

Unfortunately Moderators and Admins are all voluntary jobs, and with real life jobs and school we do the best we can getting to the new posts as fast as possible.

And I have seen a few Forums that require alot higher post counts or require you make a specific amount of posts every month.....and some that charge for image viewing....not us, all we want is an active forum....what good would it be if it was just sitting here with no contributions?

Flarey
11-08-2008, 07:28 PM
At the very least, try to think of this place as a community, not just some other site to get your daily dose of hentai.

Active members are what make this place grow, which creates a better board and draws new members, who in turn add to the growing community. But if members are not active in the first place, then there is nothing to provide the initial spark.

Yeah I get that... I s'pose I just have a self regulating cap on myself... Only post in topics I know about. Guess that slowed things up for me abit.

hmm i registered back in august but havent actively posted till now(i noticed the restricted areas to tell the truth)....although it was kinda funny earlier today, it said "1" active user and "13" guests.....and i was the active user.....i have no qualms about some extra hentai fans like myself enjoying the site....

In a way, it's good that not ALL of the guests register.
If you think about it, how many people would you have that would register and start posting "LaWL 30 pOstS l0L"...?

Yeah, I used to be a guest to, just leeching on ther site, till they got the restrictions up (30 post things) Then I kinda felt forced at first to join to see what I wanted to see, but after a while, I kinda enjoyed this site. It was, like other people have posted, spam free,no worries of some kinda of virus killing your comp a lot, everyone's kool here, even the admins to my surprise. I may not be like other people who contribute alot, but I do what I can, especially since i just post at night due to me having to go to college and work.

I've been a member of this board for a while, just giving reputation upgrades for those who deserve it. I just never been a poster due to my time being spent exploring for pictures. And I admit, the 30 post rule is promoting my participation, and I respect it. So, hello ppl who never knew me!

Well guest are very important since if they like this site anoth they will join it that is why we should make this site the greatest site ever with all of are post's that way they will want to join!I am thinking one of the best way's to get them to join is come up with great game's and other stuff for them that way they have more reason's to join than the free porn and hentai.

To be perfectly honest, when I first signed up (like many others). I was in for the free pics/links. But after browsing for a few days, this site definitely is the most organized & monitored H-realted forum I have seen. Definitely will upload some of my collection and make some real contribution!

As for people who browse and not sign up, there are bounded to have people like that. But for what it's worth. As long as the forum proven to be well managed and with solid content. People will sign up eventually.

Honyoku i am in totally agree. This has actually inspired me to look up stuff to contribute here. Soem stuff i wish other people would see. I actually got a friend to register not to long ago actually. Don't know if he referred me or not though but i don't care about taht. The 30 post thing really doesnt' affect me that much cause i just like being on forums for some reason.
